Job Description

We are seeking a highly capable medical-surgical nurse to join our team. In this role, you will be providing bedside care for pre-and post-surgery patients, monitoring vital signs, and administering prescribed medications.

To ensure success, medical-surgical nurses should possess extensive knowledge of various health conditions and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. An outstanding medical-surgical nurse will be someone whose expertise translates into exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities:

• The Special Procedures Nurse is responsible to conduct an initial and ongoing assessment designed to gather data relevant to the patient’s individual needs and age group
• The Special Procedures Nurse monitors and/or assists with the following procedures: a. Myelograms

b. Needle Biopsies
c. Arteriograms
d. Angioplasty
e. T-Tube Placements and Changes
f. Biliary Stone Extraction
g. Ureteral Stone Extraction
h. Percutaneous Nephrostomy Tube Placement
i. Chemo-Therapy
j. Phlebotomy
k. Liver Biopsy
l. Thoracentisis
m. Paracentisis
n. Steroidal Injections
o. Hysterosalpinogram
p. Persantine Thallium
q. Cardiolite Persantine
r. Thallium Treadmill
s. MRI Screening (appointments and injections)

• Must be able to administer IV’s; IV medications, and draw blood gases
• Responsible for taking short patient history; checking pedal, popliteal and femoral pulses and performing neuro checks
• Must be able to recognize risks and complications related to x-ray procedures through knowledge of physical assessment
• Explanation of procedure to patient and obtaining a signature on permit
• Constant updating of skills by attending in-service classes

• Participate in unit meetings and educational activities in order to develop skills and grow in awareness
• When not working in x-ray to assist Ambulatory Care Services department with admissions, vital signs, discharges, and procedures as designated by Charge Nurse and other duties as assigned

Experiences

• Radiology RN- service all patients in radiology mostly providing IV sedation to patients so Radiology RN experience preferred but must be ICU, ER, or PACU trained. IR tech- do IR procedures and assist MD-
• Must have IR or EVOR experience.

Requirements

• 2 years of Radiology RN experience preferred but must be ICU, ER, or PACU trained REQUIRED
• Must have IR or EVOR experience REQUIRED
• Active RN License of GA REQUIRED
• BLS from AHA REQUIRED
• FULL COVID VACCINATION & FLU REQUIRED
• ACLS from AHA PREFERRED

Pay: $65.00 - $70.00 per hour
